About Us

Montessori Schools of Snohomish County has been established since 1962 to provide an education for children ages 6 weeks to 10 years. Our classrooms have multi-age groups. We reach out to each individual child and cultivate an environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional enrichment.

The school is founded and based upon the philosophies of Dr. Maria Montessori, who developed a method geared toward enabling children to develop and learn naturally through spontaneous, self-directed activity. A “prepared environment” is created in each classroom that contains an abundance of concrete, manipulative materials maintained in an orderly and attractive manner so that they will stimulate the child’s natural interest in learning. The materials are readily accessible to children, which allows the free use of these materials according to individual interests. A non-competitive atmosphere, where children progress at their own pace with positive reinforcement that is achieved through success-oriented materials and activities, inspires the child to develop his potential to the fullest.

Though we are primarily an educational environment, we also recognize the need for extended care before and after school for all ages. We realize that today’s world often requires that both parents work, especially single parents. We wish to give our children an enjoyable, safe atmosphere in the absence of the parents and strive to provide this.
